UPDATE: Samsung has released event invites for a special launch purportedly for the AMOLED Samsung Galaxy Tab S range.
The "Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014" event invite bears the tagline "Tab into Colour", confirming the event will be Galaxy Tab related and hopefully relates to the rumoured stunning QHD AMOLED display panels.
From what we can see form the invite, the tablets will certainly be very slim and could even launch in a variety of colours.
Original Story: The AMOLED display Samsung Galaxy Tab S range could launch on June 11 at a special New York event.
There’s been a lot of leaked information about the rumoured Galaxy Tab S range and their QHD AMOLED displays and now we could know when Samsung plans to unveil them.
According to sources, the AMOLED range could make their official debut at an event on June 11, which is less than a month away.
However, the WSJ has suggested the New York event on June 12, so there could be some leniency on that specific date.
Either way, we could see Samsung launch this premium AMOLED range within the next month or so.
Previous rumours suggest the Samsung Galaxy Tab S range will showcase AMOLED displays with a 2560 x 1600p QHD resolution in 8.4- and 10.5-inch varieties.
These stunning displays will run on an octa-core Exynos 5420 CPU comprised of four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex A7 cores.
In the rear will be an 8-megapixel camera paired with a 2.1-megapixel front-facing sensor.
The standard Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity comes with 4G LTE compatibility and an IR Blaster too apparently. Well, it looks like there will be both Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE models available.
Following in the footsteps of the Samsung Galaxy S5, leaked photos of the device suggest the Tab S series will feature a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button.
The Galaxy Tab S will apparently use the new Magazine UX over Android 4.4 KitKat like the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and new Tab Pro range, instead of the Touchwiz UI.
Hopefully the rumours are true and you’ll see the AMOLED slates launched in the very near future.
