Galaxy S7 to feature Exynos in UK and Snapdragon 820 in US?

The next-generation Samsung Galaxy S7 will reportedly feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, but only within handsets sold in the United States and China.

According to Reuters’ sources, the firm plans to use its own Exynos chipsets for Galaxy S7 handsets sold in other territories, including the UK.

For the current Galaxy S6, Samsung used the Exynos processors around the world.

The change in tact would represent a return to favour for American chipmaker Qualcomm after the Snapdragon 810 was dropped for the S6.

Samsung was one of a number of manufacturers to avoid the 810 amid reports of overheating.

Recently, it has been rumoured Samsung has been working with Qualcomm on the Snapdragon 820. The chip has also shown up in benchmarking tests on a Galaxy S7 prototype.
