A leaked photo appears to offer a solid glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, the forthcoming rugged cousin of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
We’ve been hearing rumours of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active for a couple of months now. The Samsung Galaxy S6 represented a huge leap forward for the range in many ways, but toughness wasn’t one of them.
As such, there’s a lot more need for a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active this year than last, when the Samsung Galaxy S5 (for all its faults) was impressively water and dust resistant.
The latest leak is the most convincing yet – an image of the front and back of the device, courtesy of an anonymous tipster over at GSMArena.
As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is built to last. While it retains the basic layout of the Galaxy S6, its front buttons appear to be physical, there’s a reinforced casing element around its edge, and the speaker appears to have been move to the rear.
The source also claims that the Galaxy S6 Active will feature a much larger battery than the Galaxy S6. At 3,500mAh, that’s significantly bigger than the flagship phone’s puny 2,600mAh unit.

Aside from the fingerprint sensor, it’s looking likely that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will retain all of the core specs of the Samsung Galaxy S6. We’re talking a 5.1-inch QHD Amoled display, an Exynos 7420 CPU, and a capable 16-megapixel main camera.
Earlier rumours suggested that Samsung would reinstate the microSD slot and removable battery that it dropped from the Galaxy S6 package.
