The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini UK release date has been confirmed, with the device touching down on August 7.
Samsung’s mid-range version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship will arrive in the UK next week, accompanying by the Samsung Galaxy Young 2 a week later.
Available from August 7 in Samsung Experience Stores, Carphone Warehouse and other select online and high street retailers, the Galaxy S5 mini price has been set at £389.95 SIM-free.
The Galaxy S5 mini comes with a 4.5-inch 720 x 1280p HD super AMOLED display running on a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM.
You’ll get 16GB of internal memory as standard, but that is expandable by microSD cards up to 64GB in size.
It runs on a 2,100mAh battery and you’ll get the IP67 water and dust resistance certification, fingerprint and heart rate monitor sensors introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Connectivity wise, you’ll have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC with the 4G LTE version only, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 2.0, GPS and an IR blaster for using your phone as an additional TV remote.
The S5 mini has an 8-megapixel rear camera with Auto Focus and LED flash, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera with full 1080p HD video recording capabilities.
As for the Galaxy Young 2, available in a fortnight, it features a 3.5-inch HGVA TFT display running Android 4.4 KitKat. It packs a 1GHz single-core processor with 512MB of RAM and comes with 4GB of internal memory, helped by microSD support up to 32GB.
It comes with Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, but lacks any of the gadgetry the S5 mini is kitted out with.
Powered by a 1,300mAh battery, it does have a 3-megapixel fixed focus rear camera. However, there isn’t a front-facing option for video calling.
