Building on the recent Samsung Galaxy S4 unveiling, the handset has been revealed to compatible with Qi wireless charging standards with new Samsung Galaxy S4 wireless charging accessories confirmed.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S4 will not support wireless charging direct from the box, the South Korean manufacturer, in partnership with the Wireless Power Consortium, has revealed that a selection of Samsung Galaxy S4 wireless charging accessories will be made available.

With a separate, battery incorporating, back cover set to be made available for the Samsung Galaxy S4, introducing compatibility with Qi wireless charging standards, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will also host the option of being partnered with a dedicated wireless charging pad.

“The Galaxy S4 is the latest addition to the rapidly expanding Qi ecosystem of mobile devices, charging accessories, charging locations, and consumer electronics with an installed base of more than 15 million units,” an official release by the 130-member strong Wireless Power Consortium stated. “Qi cuts the last remaining cord in consumer electronics – the charging cord.”

Although Samsung has yet to reveal pricing details on its incoming Samsung Galaxy S4 wireless charging accessories, the WPC has reassured wannabe S4 owners that their handset will not be restricted to the manufacturer’s own-branded products.

“Any Qi-certified device wirelessly charges using any Qi-compatible charger, regardless of brand,” an official spokesperson for the Wireless Charging Consortium said. “It’s easy, you just set your Qi-supported device on any Qi charging spot and it instantly starts charging.”

Building on a raft of further high-end Samsung Galaxy S4 specs, the handset’s potential wireless charging capabilities are joined on the device’s features list by 2GB of RAM, a 2600mAh battery and a collection of Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC and 4G connectivity options.

Lining up as the world’s first eight-core smartphone, playing host to a 1.6GHz Exynos 5 Octa-core CPU, the Samsung Galaxy S4 further benefits from a 5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a 7.9mm thick, 130g in weight form factor.
