Samsung Galaxy S4 to have home key but no S-Pen

Samsung Galaxy Home button

Fresh reports claim that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will indeed have a physical home key, but not an S-Pen stylus.

Korean news site D Daily claims that rumours of a buttonless Samsung Galaxy S4 are baseless - the device will retain the Samsung Galaxy S3's physical home key.

Recent renderings of the Samsung Galaxy S4 seem to have omitted such a physical key, leading many to speculate that Samsung was going for an all-touch interface like the Google Nexus 4 and HTC One X.

However, one physical component the Samsung Galaxy S4 won't have is an S-Pen. After the success of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it had been suggested that Samsung would bring the smart stylus technology to its flagship smartphone range.

Nothing doing, according to D Daily. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature "Non-contact gesture" controls. It's felt that details surrounding this new means of input may have been misinterpreted as a sign that S-Pen functionality would be included.

The report confirms the widely held belief that Samsung will release the Samsung Galaxy S4 in April, with an announcement likely to precede it in mid-March.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs

It's believed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with a 5-inch Full HD (1080p) display, 2GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and the option of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB worth of internal storage.

The camera is expected to be a 13-megapixel model, while there'll be a hefty 3,100mAh battery on board to power all these choice components.

Are you glad that Samsung might be sticking with its physical home key and ditching the S-Pen idea? Let us know via the TrustedReviews Twitter and Facebook feeds or through the comment boxes below.

5 inches is what I like about this phone (coupled with 400+ ppi at that size). I like the physical home key; well all three android keys should be physical leaving full 5" available for use as screen - android should also make notifications at the top (battery indicator, cellphone coverage indicator, wifi indicator etc. status line) hideable as Windows Phone does so that full screen real estate is available for the app/browser/video whatever. I wish Samsung included s-pen in S4, but then what would be the differentiator for Note 3 other than its huge size!?

I don't really like the 5 inch screen thing, but if the S4 Mini is good specs-wise and has a solid screen size then that would be an interesting thing for me to get, since I am not really interested in owning the news and best device on the market...

If you need more ideas for further S4 reports I suggest you follow this blog: http://samsung-galaxy-s4-news.... as it has tons of leaks and reports and it is very clearly states what is a rumor and what is an actual fact so that people don't get confused!

One of the great things about Android is the level of customization. If you want to hide the notification bar just grab a new launcher ;-) I use Nova Launcher and have a gesture configured to hide both the dock and notifcation bars leaving a very clean looking desktop
