The Samsung Galaxy S4 release date could be with us sooner than expected as, just days before the high-profile iPhone 5 release date, latest reports have suggested Samsung will launch its fourth-generation flagship handset in March 2013.

Seemingly set to take a leaf out of Apple’s book and launch its leading smartphone just days after it is formally unveiled to the public, recent reports from the Korea Times have suggested that a Samsung Galaxy S4 release date will be held in March, shortly after the handset is expected to be unveiled during the Barcelona based MWC 2013 convention.

Although the iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 battle is yet to kick into full force, excitement is high around a potential March Samsung Galaxy S4 UK release date as the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S3 follow-on once again brings the smartphone fight to Apple with a potential iPhone 5 toppling collection of high-end specs.

Whilst we recommend any Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours are taken with a pinch of salt, component suppliers for the Korean handset manufacturer have reportedly claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 could once again be set for an upsclaing refresh. Attempting to tackle Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone 5 specs, an oversized 5-inch display, up from the already expansive 4.8-inch offering found on the current Samsung Galaxy S3 is reportedly on the cards.

Further Samsung Galaxy S4 leaks have seen the handset tipped to tout a revised quad-core processor, even more powerful than the current 1.4GHz quad-core offering, and 4G LTE connectivity that would see the handset line up alongside its iPhone 5 rival on the UK’s first 4G network, EE, formerly Everything Everywhere.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S3 famously missed its expected MWC 2012 unveiling, in favour of a separate, June reveal, the repeated Samsung tipsters have suggested that in a bid to combat the unrivalled success of the iPhone 5, Samsung will launch its next-generation Android device just nine months after the arrival of the current model.

Earlier today Apple revealed that iPhone 5 pre-orders have broken all current records with the A6 processor packing, iOS 6 powered smartphone receiving a staggering 2 million advanced orders in its opening 24 hours on sale. Further iPhone 5 features of note see the iPhone 4S replacement play host to a newly revised form factor that lines up at a mere 7.6mm thick.

If they go 5" they'll probably do it the same way they did the Note 2; keep the chassis the same size and reduce the bezel. That'd be a nice improvement.

Apart from LTE I can't think what else the S3 needs; it's pretty much pushing the limits of what's possible and economic.

I guess the GPU could improve; it's clocked high but is actually a fairly old design.

Also if the new design was based on an A15 architecture, rather than the current A9, that would bring amazing speed and power efficiency. Can't say this is an area the S3 is at all weak in, but more is better.

... "I can't think what else the S3 needs" ...
What about sorting out the OS so that it does not become slow and sluggish after several months of use? Oh, wait, it should be Google sorting this out.

Great review - perfect summary.

@Everlast - An Android phone is just like a PC - the more you use it, the more it becomes fragmented. It's upto you to manage the OS properly. If you're performing average day to day activities - it's unlikely this will happen. But if you're tweaking around and using up a lot of the HD - then, with great power comes great responsibility.
