Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders quadruple S3 records

Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders appear to be going from strength-to-strength with smartphone retailer Carphone Warehouse revealing the handset has quadrupled advanced sales records set by the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Formally unveiled at a dedicated New York launch event last Thursday, March 14, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has already marked itself out as the next must-have Android handset, eclipsing the early pre-orders marks recorded by its predecessor.

According to latest figures released by the retailer, Carphone Warehouse has seen pre-order figures jump 446 per cent in the three days following the Samsung Galaxy S4 unveiling, suggesting the handset could well become the most successful Android smartphone to date.

“The Galaxy S3 launch broke records last year and was always going to be a tough one to beat, but the S4 is already proving to be a more than capable step up in the series that will inspire many people to make the switch to Android from other operating systems, Graham Stapleton, COO of Carphone Warehouse said. “This device is the one to watch for 2013.”

Far from the first handset provider to reveal the high level of interest already placed in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4, just hours after the handset’s unveiling Phones 4u revealed the device had become the most pre-ordered handset of the year to date.

“The anticipation surrounding the next Samsung Galaxy device has been astounding and it has already received the most pre-registrations at Phones 4u of any other smartphone launch in 2013, as well as a 40 per cent increase on pre-registrations for the Galaxy S3 in the first 48 hours,” Scott Hooton, Phones 4u’s Chief Commercial Officer said last week.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs
Playing host to a high-end collection of innards, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is set to line up as the world’s first eight-core smartphone, with the 1.6GHz Exynos 5 octa-core CPU to see four large cores, tasked with doing much of the grunt work, paired with four small cores, to improve battery performance. A Samsung Galaxy S4 UK release date has been set for April 26.

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 specs sheet seeing a 5-inch 1080p  Full HD Super AMOLED display taking pride of place on the 7.9mm thick, 130g in weight handset, the device further benefits from 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a second, 2-megapixel snapper up front.

Set to be made available in Black Mist and White Frost colour schemes, the Samsung Galaxy S4, which be launch in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options, is set to be about more than simple hardware achievements, with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS playing host to a raft of innovative new additions.

With Dual Camera mode allowing users to shoot with both the forward-facing and rear-mounted cameras simultaneously, the handset will also feature Smart Pause and Smart Scroll options, both of which use eye-tracking technologies for a more natural and immersive user experience.
