Samsung Galaxy S4 Cases Leak on March 9
Ahead of next week’s Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event, newly leaked Samsung Galaxy S4 cases have hit the web, hinting a chunkier, squarer design.
Landing courtesy of third-party Chinese manufacturers, the prototype Samsung Galaxy S4 cases are reportedly based on the handset’s formal specifications, with a selection of images showing off accessories for a considerably chunkier handset than the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Although these claimed leaks should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt, they come just days ahead of the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event with the handset set to be formally unveiled in New York City on March 14.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Launch Event: Build Up
Yesterday, newly emerging reports suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 could land at the New York based unveiling alongside the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Emerging via a Bluetooth SIG filing, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, which would build on the Korean manufacturer’s past tablet offering, has been tipped as a potential launch partner for the Samsung Galaxy S4, a handset which is due to be formally unveiling on March 14.
With the Bluetooth SIG filing suggesting the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is on the cusp of release, leaked specs have suggested the third-generation tablet will play host to a 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos processor alongside a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600p AMOLED display. Far from the highlight of the New York based showcase, the Samsung Galaxy S4 spec sheet is expected to see the handset become the world’s first eight-core smartphone.
Although it is far from guaranteed that Samsung will share the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch limelight with its latest tablet offering, having previously been tipped to make an appearance at MWC 2013, it is believed the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 could be a precursor to the iPhone 5 rivalling main event.
Leaked via AndroidAuthority, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is expected to land with Bluetooth 4.0 in tow, as well as LTE, 4G connectivity options, both features also mooted for the S4.
Preceding this, on Thursday, a week prior to the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event, the South Korean company erected Samsung Galaxy S4 teasers in New York City, hinting that the handset will be made available in both black and white colour forms.
With the Pebble Blue colour scheme used on the Samsung Galaxy S3 having recently been rumoured to have been dropped for the upcoming S4, two Samsung Galaxy S4 themed advertising boards have appeared in New York’s iconic Times Square, hinting that, as previously suggested, the S4 release will see more traditional black and white handsets made available.
Sitting back-to-back at the key tourist location, the new Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event teasers, which declare simply “Be ready 4 the next Galaxy,” differ only in their colour, with one billboard featuring black text on a white background whilst the other, reversing the colour scheme, plays host to white text on a black background.
With a Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event having been confirmed for next Thursday, March 14, excitment around the next-generation iPhone 5 rival has kicked into overdrive in recent days. The eagerly awaited handset, which has been tipped to become the first eight-core smartphone, is set to be unveiled in New York City with proceedings kicking off at 6pm PST (11pm GMT).
Samsung Galaxy S4 Rumours
As well as being expected to land in both black and white colour forms, the pebble blue option having been scrapped due to past manufacturing issues, further Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours have suggested the handset will feature a 4.99-inch 1080p Full HD display.
Tipped to become the first eight-core smartphone with the inclusion of the CES 2013 unveiled Exynos 5 octa-core processor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 specs sheet is expected to be further bolstered by 2GB of RAM and the inclusion of a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
With an all new form factor claimed to be on the cards, still with a plastic construction, the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event is also expected to see the company introduce new Smart Scroll and Smart Pause features. Utilising the reported 2-megapixel forward-facing camera, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Smart Scroll features will see the handset automatically scroll down pages as user’s eyes move whilst Smart Pause will halt video content if the user is detected to have looked away.
Although a Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event is on the cards for March 14, a Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is not expected to follow for a further month with an arrival between April 15 and 22 widely rumoured.
