Samsung Galaxy S4 battery to benefit from wireless charging capabilities

The Samsung Galaxy S4 battery will play host to wireless charging capabilities latest reports have suggested ahead of the handset’s formal unveiling.

Although an optional feature on a number of handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Google Nexus 4, latest reports have suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S4 battery could help bring wireless charging to the masses. A feature also expected to appear on the iPhone 5S, industry experts have suggested wireless charging could be on the cusp of becoming the next must-have feature.

The latest in a long line of Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours, next Thursday’s March 14 Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event will see if the wireless charging tech is introduced.

Suggesting the Samsung Galaxy S4 could play host to Qi wireless charging technologies, repeated tech tipsters Digitimes have cited unnamed “industry sources” in claiming the upcoming Android powerhouse will help push the cable-free technology to the masses.

“However, the Galaxy S4 may not come with embedded wireless charging capability,” the sources added. “Instead, users are required to buy replacement back covers for their smartphone for access to a charging pad.”

Whilst Samsung is expected to follow the Wireless Power Consortium Qi, standard, the reports have claimed Apple is currently working on its own wireless charging standards with the technology reportedly tipped for inclusion in the heavily rumoured iPhone 5S.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Rumours

Far from the first time the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been said to be heading for launch with wireless charging capabilities in tow, previous reports have hinted the handset will require users to purchase additional accessories to make use of the emerging tech.

According to recent leaks courtesy of Korean sources, the “Samsung wireless charger [and] wireless charging receiving coil case is scheduled to be sold separately.”

The most eagerly awaited handset of the moment, further Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours have suggested the device will feature a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display, a 1.8GHz eight-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

What’s more with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean reportedly running the show, the Samsung Galaxy S4 specs sheet will apparently be further bolstered by a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera, integrated NFC technology and new Smart Scroll features.
