A wireless induction charger for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is said to be primed for a launch next month. Get ready to chuck away that microUSB cable…
The wireless charger for the Samsung Galaxy S3 was shown-off at the phone's launch back in May, but it is still to land on shelves. However, according to PocketNow, it should arrive next month - in time for the reported September 12 launch of the iPhone 5 perhaps?
Using a wireless charger lets you forget about the annoyance of cables - and never being able to find the right one if you're anything like us - but you will need to slap a different battery cover on your Samsung Galaxy S3 for it to work. However, as an official accessory it shouldn't change the current curves of the phone too much.
A wireless charger was put forward as a big attraction of the Palm Pre, which was seen as a potential iPhone and Android rival back in 2009. But the phone was such as commercial flop that most people have forgotten it ever existed. Could those Palm Pre memories have put the bigger names off this wireless induction tech ever since?
That said, if you own an electric toothbrush there's a good chance you already own an inductive charging device - Philips and Oral B toothbrushes have used the tech for years. Third-party wireless inductive chargers are also readily available, most notably the Powermat, but have largely failed to capture the public's interest.
