A leaked event invite suggesting Samsung plans to officially lift the lid on the Samsung Galaxy S3 on May 3rd has now been confirmed as genuine.
The image was originally leaked by Dutch tech website Tweakers.net, but it has now been officially circulated too. Although it doesn’t explicitly state “pop on down for a glimpse at the S3”, it does the next best thing by admitting it’s in honour of the next member of the Samsung Galaxy family. And we doubt the Samsung Galaxy Y2 would get such special attention.
The announcement will be made during the Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 taking place at Earls Court during this time. We wouldn't be surprised if a number of other handsets are also announced at this event.
Samsung’s Apple-like silence tactics for the Galaxy S3 – it wasn’t mentioned at either the CES 2012 or Mobile World Congress tech shows – has encouraged a whole host of spurious leaks, but with anticipation still high, it seems to be working. If there’s one phone that can challenge the iPhone 5 in gadget lust terms, it looks set to be the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Rumours indicate that the smartphone will have a 4.65in Super AMOLED screen with a 720p resolution display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on-board. We’ll be back with more information soon – not too long, if this invite’s true.
