Waiting for Android updates is the burden of any keen Android user, but Samsung Galaxy S3 owners reportedly won't have to wait too long for the bump up to Jelly Bean 4.1.
According to Sam Mobile, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is due at the end of Q3 or the early days of Q4. If true, this should mean it'll arrive before we're too far into October, and possibly during next month. Sam Mobile says it has this information from "insiders" that have provided it with juicy firmware info in the past. The site also says that Jelly Bean updates will come to the Samsung Galaxy S2, Note and upcoming Note 2.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean test firmware has reportedly passed all its various checks, with just the public version still to finalise. As usual, the TouchWiz UI seen in the Galaxy S3 will have put the brakes on a particularly early release. At present the only smartphone to have Jelly Bean is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Samsung's Galaxy S3 is set to become the biggest non-Apple smartphone success story of the year. Aside from a few whinging about its plastic bod, its release has been largely crisis free on the hardware side, and the phone has already sold 10 million units.
