Samsung knows how to tease its fans. It has just launched a site that simply counts down until May 3 when the Samsung Galaxy S3 phone is to be officially unveiled, and a new video clip to get Galaxy fans excited.

So popular is the Samsung Galaxy S3 that the traffic surge has already caused the countdown microsite to go down - unless Samsung has already pulled the thing deliberately. In what has become a running joke for Samsung, the site and teaser make fun of "everyone else" not interested in the Galaxy S3, calling them a bunch of sheep. And by "everyone else", Samsung of course means iPhone owners. The teaser video starts off dramatic, full of images of swirling star formations and semi-meaningful snippets of text - like a cut scene from Mass Effect 3 - before finishing in the flamebait sheepy image.

The Galaxy S3 is Samsung's flagship phone for 2012 - it'll run Android and most likely have a great big screen, like the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. At present, though, we're dining on rumours. They indicate that the phone will have a 4.65in Super AMOLED screen with 720p resolution, 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot if that's still not enough.

The rumour mongers can't seem to agree on its camera specs, though. Some - like the Amazon.de product page - suggest it'll have a 12-megapixel camera where others seem to think it'll coast on by with eight, thereby matching the iPhone 4S (but possibly not the iPhone 5).

Drop us a comment if you're waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S3. What makes you want Samsung's Android phone over the HTC One X or iPhone 4S?
