Just weeks after revealing it was to offer pre-orders on the device, online retailer Clove has revealed it no longer intends to stock the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S3.
Unveiled alongside its 16GB and 32GB siblings earlier this year, the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S3 has, as yet, failed to make it to British stores with no networks or high street retailers currently offering the large capacity option of the iPhone 5 toppling Android powerhouse.
Having previously listed the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S3 handset as available for pre-order with a lofty £600 price tag, Clove at the time stated that it would only stock the device if pre-order figures were high enough to make such a move possible. “In two weeks time we will decide whether or not to take stock of the handset based on the number of pre-orders that we have received for the handset,” a Clove spokesperson said at the time.
Following the two week trial period, Clove earlier this week revealed that it would not be the first UK retailer to offer the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S3 with the handset to remain off limits to UK consumers, a move that casts questions of doubt as to whether the device will ever hit British shore.
“A few weeks ago we made the Samsung Galaxy SIII Black 64GB available to pre-order, with the intention of ranging it should the demand be high enough,” the retailer’s latest blog post has declared. “Unfortunately the number of pre-orders that we received did not meet the minimum required to bring stock into the UK, so we will not be ranging the handset.
This comes as unfortunate news and we would have loved to have ranged the handset, especially for those of you that have been expressing an interest in it for some time.”
The company added: “The wait will now continue for a handset that offers large internal and external (microSD) storage.”
64GB Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs
Differing only in its high storage capacity, the 64 Samsung Galaxy S3 specs sheet is littered with the same high-end collection of components as found in its less spacious siblings.
Lining up at just 133g in weight and a mere 8.6mm thick, the strong Samsung Galaxy S3 features list is kicked off with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor with the handset backing this up with 1GB of RAM and a substantial 2,100mAh Lithium-Ion battery. Coming boxed with Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the handset is now upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Boasting an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a second, 1.9-megapixel snapper up front, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is topped off with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and a stunningly expansive 4.8-inch 1280 x 720p Super AMOLED display with a 306PPI image density and protective Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.
