The Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 upgrade will soon be available to UK customers, ahead of the delayed February release announced by Samsung.

News came that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 upgrade was rolling out in Spain on Wednesday, but reports suggests that the upgraded Android OS started reaching unlocked UK handsets yesterday.

An unofficial Samsung blog, sammobile.com, proven to be consistently reputable, confirmed that the Jelly Bean 4.1 update is now available in China and Spain, with other countries to receive the OS update imminently.

The Android Jelly Bean OS was announced in June last year, first reaching Google Nexus products such as the Nexus 7.

Google also introduced further iterations of the Jelly Bean OS before the majority of devices received Jelly Bean 4.1. The Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet came out in November with Android 4.2.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Upgrade Features

Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 upgrade will provide users with a host of all new features to bring a new lease of life to the now 2-year-old handset.

Favourites like Google Now and Project Butter feature, as well as Samsung’s ‘Pop up Play’ feature that allows users to watch a video whilst using other apps.

The Nature UI theme will now adorn your Samsung Galaxy S2, as well as new Samsung Galaxy S3 user interface features including the Samsung SmartStay. This keeps the display active as long as the user is looking at it, using the front camera.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean 4.1 upgrade will not include the Samsung Photosphere app. This creates bigger and better panoramic photographs by allowing the user to take a picture of an entire view - left to right and up and down motions – rather than the usual one-line shots.

Will you upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S2 to the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS? Do you think the update will expand the shelf-life of the Samsung Galaxy S2? Let us know in the comments below.

I am sure I read somewhere that for this release we do not have to wait for operator approved firmware updates - can anyone confirm this?

That is true, but only if you use Samsung Kies.
If you want to use OTA, you'll have to wait for operator's approval !!
Good luck :)

probably not since it's rather uncommon and android 4.1 will only come to the s2 series (skyrocket and different carriers) and the note

why wait ppl , just download the 4.1.2 firmware(spain) and flash it via odin , remember to factory reset ur phone before & after installation. This is the best Samsung rom for S2 & i'm enjoying every bit of it ;) * international variant of S2 only

Can't wait either, but my next phone will definitely be a Nexus phone. I just hope the Nexus 4 or better will be available on other carriers by then.

I still prefer shape and size of the Galaxy S2 over the S3, which is why I never bought the S3. So, I'll be using this until Samsung makes a new phone thats more like the S2.

I upgraded to 4.1 with an unofficial ROM from samfirmware october last year and battery life was terrible. not sure whether to trust the official rom and try again. but the phone got hot a lot randomly, its defo pushing the phone now.
