Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SDK launched for developers

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been officially unveiled and Samsung is looking to get developers interested in making use of the phone’s edge-encompassing display.

With a 5.7-inch QHD display which rolls on to the phone’s right-hand side, the Galaxy Note Edge is an innovative new addition to the smartphone space.

This screen addition is only useful as long as there are apps to support it though. As such the Korean manufacturer has confirmed that a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SDK will be launched later today.

At launch, the Note Edge will use its kinked screen section to display shortcuts to favourite apps, live fitness data from S Health, all manner of settings and tools. Although these edge displays can be customised and scrolled between, third-party app support is needed for the technology to offer longterm benefits.

As well as its impressive screen additions, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is a strong smartphone all round.

With a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor running the show, the handset further benefits from 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear-mounted camera and all the S-Pen incorporating stylus skills of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy Edge will launch later this year. At present Samsung has not announced any third-party developers working of apps which will support the screen’s ‘edge’.
