Samsung Galaxy Note 7 leaks may reveal an awesome new feature
Evidence that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 (or Note 7?) will feature an iris scanner appears to be mounting.
It seems that the next flagship Galaxy Note device will feature an iris scanner, giving users the ability to unlock their phones using their eyes. That’s according to a new report by Sammobile – a generally reliable Samsung news outlet – which cites newly leaked screenshots sourced from PriceRaja. The screenshots show the security settings page of a Samsung smartphone, one in Chinese and the other in Korean. The usual options to secure the phone – fingerprint and PIN – are listed, but there’s a new third option that reportedly reads: “use iris”.

Unfortunately, we can’t verify these leaks, so take this report with due caution. However, rumours that the Galaxy Note 7 will feature an iris scanner have been circulating for quite some time. Earlier this year, Indian import tracker Zauba listed a shipment of iris scanners for Samsung Mobile. The scanners were being shipped to India from Samsung’s home turf of South Korea.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6, also rumoured as the Galaxy Note 7, is expected to launch in August this year. The handset probably won’t go on sale until September however, according to recent reports. The phone’s rumoured specs include:
- 5.77-inch display
- 2K (QHD) screen resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor
- Adreno 530 GPU
- 6GB RAM
- 256GB storage
- 4,200mAh battery
- IP68-certified waterproof/dustproof body
It’s also rumoured that Samsung’s next phablet will only be available with a curved dual-edge design, just like the Galaxy S7 Edge.
