Samsung’s next phablet – rumoured as both the Galaxy Note 6 and Note 7 – is incoming, and we might already know when.
Prominent mobile industry leaker Evan Blass has tipped a release window for Samsung’s next major phone launch. Posting to Twitter under his pseudonym @Evleaks, Blass said that the new phone is “almost exactly two months away”.
The tweet went live on June 2, 2016, which suggests that the launch date would be August 2, 2016. However, Blass said “almost exactly”, which means it could fall a few days either side of that date. While August 2 might seem early for a Note-series release, an August launch has been heavily rumoured in recent months.
Galaxy Note 6: It's rumoured to be waterproof, just like the Galaxy S7
It’s also worth noting that even if Samsung does unveil the Galaxy Note 6 on August 2, that doesn’t mean the phone will go on sale in August. There’s every chance that the phablet won’t start shipping until September.
The Galaxy Note 6 (or Note 7) is expected to feature the following specs, according to recent rumours:
- 5.77-inch display
- 2K (QHD) screen resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 832 processor
- Adreno 530 GPU
- 6GB RAM
- 256GB storage
- 4,200mAh battery
- IP68-certified waterproof/dustproof body
Of course, Samsung hasn’t actually made any public comment about a new Note handset, so take this report – and any other such reports – with due caution. We won’t really know the truth of the matter until August or September.
