Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Project Zen details leak
The expected Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is about six months away, but that doesn’t stop details leaking out ahead of time.
According to mystery sources cited by Sammobile, the Samsung phablet will make use of either a 2K or 4K Super AMOLED display.
Whether 4K displays are necessary on smartphones or not depends very much on whether you want to use your handset as the screen for a VR headset.
The report claims Samsung is still undecided which display resolution to use, but is testing both at present.
Moving swiftly on –
The Exynos chips are a custom-built series produced in-house by Samsung, and featured on the recently released Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones.
What’s special about the Exynos 7422, however, is that it’s expected to be the company’s first-ever ePoP – that stands for embedded-package-on-package.
What this means is that Samsung will cram the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and a modem all onto a single chip. That’ll make for a real space saver, and could bring down device thickness.

Samsung is also reported to be testing Galaxy Note 5 units with a newer Exynos 7430 chipset.
Unfortunately, this is allegedly just an engineering sample, and won’t actually release with the handset.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge successor, codename Project Zen, was also detailed in the report.
It will purportedly use a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch dual-edge curved display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 16GB of storage, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS, and an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor.
