Samsung Galaxy Note 4 price cut expected within three months

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 price could drop by as much as 34 per cent during the phone’s first three months on sale, latest reports have suggested.

Despite the Galaxy Note 4 being readied for release next month with a premium price tag, research by price comparison site idealo has predicted the 5.7-inch phablet could quickly become a lot more affordable.

A hefty drop in price can be expected for the recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – particularly within the first 3 months of release,” the idealo report states.

With the Note 4 release date having been confirmed for October 10 alongside a near £600 price point, a reduction in cost would be welcomed by many wannabe owners.

Analysing the respective price drops of preceding Galaxy Note models, idealo found that Samsung’s flagship phablets have all been on the receiving end of increasingly sizeable price cuts during their early days on sale.

“As the analysis shows, the price declines more rapidly from the market release with each newly-released model in the Galaxy Note range,” the study read.

It added: “While the price for the first Galaxy Note was still 92 per cent of the starting price after 3 month, its successor was available for 87 per cent of the initial release price after 3 months.

“The price drop for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was even more notable: after 3 months, the price had dropped to just 75 per cent of the introductory price.”

The Note 4 price is not expected to hold steady after three months either. It has been suggested that the QHD display packing iPhone 6 Plus rival could be available for almost half its launch price within a year of release.

“We can predict a price decline of a third in 3 months,” an idealo spokesperson stated.

They added: “A year after the market release, the Galaxy Note 4 price could even fall to as little as around a half (56 per cent) of its initial price.”

The Galaxy Note 4 was unveiled during IFA 2014 earlier this month. The device packs a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor alongside 3GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel, optical image stabilised rear-mounted camera.
