Samsung Galaxy Note 4 leaks: QHD display and 4GB of RAM

The Note 3's successor is shaping up nicely

IFA is just around the corner, and the leaks are flowing thick and fast. Yesterday we heard news of Sony's SmartWatch 3, and today it's the Samsung Galaxy Note 4's turn in the spotlight.

Indonesian site Erafone has posted what it claims is the device's spec list. If it's on the money, fans of big phones won't be disappointed – the Note 4 is said to have a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel Super AMOLED screen, plus a meaty 4GB of RAM.

That amount of RAM would be a first for an Android device, while the QHD display would be on a par with the LG G3. Though because it's slightly bigger than the G3, the ppi will be a tad lower – 515ppi, compared to 538ppi on the G3.

Inside, we're looking at two different processors, which suggests different models will be available for varying markets.

Samsung has launched different versions of previous handsets like the Galaxy S5 in different markets, so this is nothing new.

Also on board is a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation and a dual-LED flash.

Storage-wise, we're looking at 16GB, 32GB or 64GB options, though they can each be beefed up with a microSD card up to 128GB.

Unsurprisingly, the Note 4 is pegged to run Android KitKat, which is the latest version of Google's OS.

This would be the first Galaxy Note that doesn't have a bigger screen than its predecessor. Though with the higher resolution, we can forgive that.

I haven't seen any mention of waterproof IP rating for this phone, is it not coming with it or do we just assume all future high end phones will be waterproof?

I really hope it's optical image stabilisation is up to the task.

Um, if it hasn't leaked, do we assume it must be waterproof - is that what you mean?

Ultimately i am just asking have we heard that it will be waterproof?

But on all the leaked specs i have read it never mentions it either way so i am wondering if we now come to expect all flagship phones to be dust and waterproof and that is why its not a 'key feature' that people talk about.

Leaked, waterproof, it was tongue-in-cheek.
I'll get my coat.

(Let's hope it's waterproof)
