With the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S4 still yet to hit retailers, new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours have suggested the upcoming device will be the first smartphone to feature an unbreakable, flexible display.

The latest in a long line of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours doing the rounds, new reports surrounding the hybrid smartphone-turn-tablet device have suggested that following the technology’s unveiling at CES 2013 earlier this year, the third-generation Note could enter the market with an unbreakable screen in tow.

Making the claim with little reassuring backing, Korean website Asiae has cited unnamed “industry sources” in speculatively claiming the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs sheet will see the company’s flexible OLED technologies, first demoed at the Vegas-based convention, feature.

Offering no further details on the repeatedly mooted device, we would suggest these latest claims, however tantalising, be taken with a considerable pinch of salt.

Although Samsung has yet to formally acknowledge the existence of such a device, a selection of recent Samsung Galaxy Note 3 leaks have seen the handset appear via a number of official avenues, including popping up on the formal Samsung website.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumours
With a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date not expected until IFA 2013 in September, the recent raft of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours are expected to continue for a number of months.

With the Samsung website recently suggesting the device with sport a new 6.3-inch display, up from the current 5.5-inch form factor, further reports have seen the stylus hosting device tipped to go down the 5.9-inch route.

“Samsung is working on introducing a new phablet using a 5.9-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen,” recent reports suggested.

Expected to land with the same Exynos 5 octa-core processor found within the Samsung Galaxy S4 in certain regions, further Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs mooted ahead of launch include a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a revised design.

“The new handset will be powered by the in-house Exynos octa-core chipset to meet consumer demand for faster data processing and download speeds,” claimed insiders suggested. “Even if these kinds of sizes ― from 5-inch to 6-inch ― are stretching the limits of traditional pockets, well-made phablets using bezel-less technology have been warmly received. Users prefer bigger phones and they use them more often. Samsung will be more focused on larger phones.”
