Samsung Galaxy Mega handset leaks with 6.3-inch display

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 recently making the jump to a new 5-inch form factor, new reports have suggested Samsung is currently working on a new 6.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega handset.

A new line of devices that will reportedly sit somewhere between the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the as yet unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy Note 3, latest reports have suggested that the currently unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy Mega line will see a selection of 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch smartphones introduced.

Further blurring the lines between dedicated smartphones and standalone tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Mega has been leaked as a collection of ‘phablet’ devices set to sport the prematurely outed model numbers of the Samsung GT-i9512 and the Samsung GT-i9200.

Seemingly set to sport a collection of uninspiring names, the Samsung Galaxy Mega lineup will reportedly be made up of two handsets at launched, with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 reportedly hosting screen sizes correlating with the devices’ respective names.

According to reports from repeated Samsung tipsters SamMobile, “The Galaxy Mega 5.8 will come in the colour white and will be available around week 22. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 will come in the colours black and white these Galaxy devices need to be available around week 25.”

Whilst it is unclear if these week based Samsung Galaxy Mega release date claims refer to the calendar or financial years, if based on the financial year, these reports would see the new, oversized smartphones touch down around IFA 2013.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumours

Far from the first oversized device to come courtesy of the South Korean manufacturer, reports of the Samsung Galaxy Mega range come following a selection of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumours which have suggested the next-generation stylus hosting handset will feature its own 6.3-inch display.

According to recent leaks courtesy of the official Samsung website, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will launch at IFA 2013 with a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display in tow, a screen that will see the handset compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Game Pad launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S4.
