Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch NFC menu and specs leak

Specs and the NFC settings menu for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch have leaked online ahead of its launch next week.

Confirmed for a pre-IFA reveal on September 4, leaked specs and menus for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch have given us a glimpse at what we can expect.

Notorious tipster @evleaks published two screenshots from the Galaxy Gear companion app for the upcoming Samsung smartwatch, which suggests the device will connect via NFC to the smartphone.

The screenshot shows the smartwatch model number as SM-V700 and reveals some of the features of the upcoming device. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will include a clock, the Find my Watch app, and access to the Samsung App store.

This means that the smartwatch should have additional features beyond the basic functionality with access to the app store.

The Clocks setting may allow users to customise the face of the smartwatch to reflect their own personality or style.

Ahead of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch launch at the Samsung Unpacked event on September 4 in Berlin, specs for the device have leaked online.

Reportedly available in 8GB and 6GB internal storage models, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will have a 2.5-inch OLED display with a 320 x 320p resolution.

Running on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, the Samsung smartwatch will pack speakers built into the strap, an accelerometer, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 10 hour battery life.

Using an unknown version of Android Jelly Bean, Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch won’t have a flexible display to view it on.

“The Gear won’t have a flexible display. The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways,” said Samsung Executive Vice President Lee Young-hee. “It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications. We are confident that the Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry.”

TrustedReviews will be at the Samsung Unpacked event on September 4 and will bring you all the Samsung smartwatch news as it happens.
