A spec sheet for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has hit the internet, largely confirming what we’ve heard so far.
The above image is purported to be official marketing material for Samsung’s forthcoming iPhone 6 spoiler, courtesy of Brazilian website TechMundo.
It certainly looks the part, and the specs listed match what we reported on last week. They paint the picture of a device that steps back from Samsung’s established large-screen bombast in favour of a more stylised effort.
That includes a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, a 12-megapixel rear camera, Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos CPU backed by 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (with no microSD card slot), an 1860mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor.
Android 4.4.4 KitKat is the OS of choice, while 4G LTE connectivity is supported.
The leaked spec sheet also mentions an additional 64GB storage option, which will be handy given the lack of a microSD slot. It also mentions that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will feature a nano SIM slot.
Both of these last two elements are reminiscent of Apple’s approach to smartphone design. Of course, so is the Samsung Galaxy Alpha’s design, which was revealed in detail last week through some leaked hands-on pics.
The biggest news here is that Samsung has finally adopted metal into its roster of design materials. Perhaps less surprisingly, the resulting handset looks distinctly iPhone 5S-like.
With rumours of a £550 price tag and a rumoured launch later this week, Samsung is clearly gearing up for another almighty scrap with Apple. The latter looks set to launch its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 next month.
