Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung EAD-R10, a pico projector to that has been designed to accompany its range of Galaxy devices.
The Samsung EAD-R10, roughly the size of a Samsung Galaxy S3, links up to tablets and smartphones (not just those made by Samsung, we should add) via a full-size HDMI input, projecting a 640 x 360 pixel image onto any available surface.
It includes a speaker, a button to control the focus and a battery that Samsung claims will deliver up to two hours of on-the-go use per charge. The image brightness goes up to 20 lumens, so it seems like users may need to find a dark or at least dimly-lit room and a clean white wall in order to get an image that’s comfortable to view.
The Samsung EAD-R10 is only available in Samsung’s native South Korea at the moment, where it costs around $220 (£135); that sounds quite reasonable for what it offers. There’s no word as yet as to whether it will be launched elsewhere in the world, but if it does end up coming to the UK we’ll let you know.
