At the IFA Global Press Conference in Croatia, Michael Zoeller,  Samsung’s Marketing Director for Televisions, revealed full details on the company’s exciting new OLED TV. He also hinted that a final model, would be shown-off at the Berlin IFA 2012, which starts from the end of August.

He mentioned a “design surprise”, which may suggest that the model we saw has shed some weight to match the LG OLED TV we also checked out at CES.

Perhaps more interesting, Zoeller said Samsung will also reveal new flagship television range (potentially replacing the ES8000 and ES9000) that will be “even more premium” than its OLED model.

We can’t really imagine any commercially viable/ready screen tech beating OLED when it comes to image quality, so can only guess this refers to features or design. In the unlikely case that it does refer to the performance of a new kind of panel, this could further cement Samsung as the dominant player in the high-end TV segment.

Samsung also said it will focus on Smart TV functionality going forward. In addition to improving existing services, the visual and voice recognition/interaction, and the upgradeable SoC we had previously heard about, cloud-sharing gains SugarSync, which offers 5GB of online storage for free and lets you share images, video and other files across all your Samsung devices from your phone to your tablet. As the standard is open, Samsung hopes other manufacturers will also join in.
