Samsung’s “masterplan” to recover from exploding Note 7 fiasco revealed
Samsung is seriously suffering as a result of the Note 7 recall debacle – but don’t worry, the South Korean electronics firm has a plan to make up for all those exploding phablets.
Remember the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge? They were pretty darned nifty phones, but the highly accomplished duo is now more-or-less forgotten, following the fiasco surrounding the launch of the Galaxy Note 7.
The Note 7, you may recall, offered a number of great features, and one unwanted one – its uncanny ability to catch fire, or even explode.
That slight flaw has caused Samsung to issue a total recall on the Note 7 and halt production of the device. However, according to the latest reports, it has a plan to overcome its current tribulations.
It’s going to make more Galaxy S7s.
That’s the word on the Korea Heard (H/T SamMobile), which cites an anonymous “industry source” as revealing Samsung’s masterplan.
“Samsung is planning to put more focus on the Galaxy S7 by ramping up production of the handset,” the whistleblower claims.
That’s hardly a surprise, although the other option that’s been mooted is the possibility that the company may push forward the Galaxy S8‘s release date in a bid to deflect further unwanted attention and losing ground to rivals such as the iPhone 7 and Google Pixel phone.
That seems unlikely, though, with the latest leak suggesting the usual unveiling around MWC in Barcelona in early 2017.
