Prices to cost more than flights themselves.
Time spent on a Ryanair flight could soon become even more painful…
The low cost airline has become the first UK charter company to announce it will soon offer in-flight mobile phone calls to passengers.
The scheme is expected to go live inside two weeks according to The Times and will initially see 14 of the company’s 166 aircraft fitted out with small mobile phone masts in the manner long discussed. Limitations will be severe however with only six simultaneous phones calls possible at any one time and prices are expected to be up to £2 per minute which means a quick phone home may end up costing you more than the flight itself. Texts will cost an equally painful 40p.
In addition, only passengers using the O2 and 3 networks will be able to use service but this is expected to change soon. Should the pilot (sorry, couldn’t resist) prove a hit then a fleet wide roll out will occur over the next six months.
Better buy yourselves a decent pair of earplugs…
