As well as being a fun film, Despicable Me is another pretty impressive animated argument for 3D. As with most of the animated 3D films we’ve seen, its 3D looks natural and crisp, and achieves a good sense of depth without having to sacrifice sharpness.
It’s also another animated film with real 3D showcase moments. The scene at the fair, especially the bit on the rollercoaster, definitely shows the potential advantages of 3D off to their best advantage, as does the sequence where Gru addresses his minion horde.
Finally, the entire sequence that runs alongside the closing credits was designed exclusively as an extended 3D visual gag, and works very well as such.
