Rocketbook is a paper notebook that syncs to the cloud

Sometimes you don’t want to take notes on your laptop. Sometimes only pen and paper will do. Rocketbook is a standard notebook that digitises your notes and sends them to the cloud.

Want to erase your notes and have a clean sheet? Pop it in the microwave. Seriously.

Here’s how it works. Each button at the bottom of the page can be assigned to any folder within Dropbox, Evernote, Google Docs, or to your email address. Mark the icon on your page, and it files your notes to the correct place.

Use Pilot FriXion pens, and you can erase your Rocketbook by heating it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Each Rocketbook comes with one black Pilot FriXion pen, and you can buy more from other retailers.

So how does it read your notes? Fire up the app, hold your phone up to the book and it captures your notes as fast as you can flip through them. It then fires them to whichever cloud service you’ve assigned.

The downside is that it stores them as digital images rather than text. In other words, if you’ve taken notes, you’ll have to transcribe them yourself. That’s fine for brainstorming and jotting down ideas. Less useful if you’re scribbling down pages of notes and don’t want to type them up later.

Still, it looks very simple to use, and we love that you’ll never have to buy another notebook. It costs $25 (plus $15 international shipping, making a total cost of £27), and should ship in July.
