Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster announced for early 2016

Capcom has announced a Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster will be launched in early 2016.

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster, a high-definition remake of the 2002 GameCube-exclusive, will be launched on PS4, Xbox One, PC as well as last-gen consoles.

To begin with the Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster will only be released in Japan under the name Biohazard 0 HD Remaster.

At present, there’s no concrete plans for a worldwide release, but we can only hope.

Resident Evil Zero takes place before the events of the first Resident Evil and features a police officer, Rebecca Chambers and a prisoner on death row called Billy Coen.

The pair must work together to survive the virus that has caused a zombie apocalypse.

Resident Evil Zero introduced a feature called partner zapping that allows you to switch between the two characters at will throughout the game.

You can even control both characters simultaneously, or separate them to cover more ground.

It’s not the first time Capcom has dabbled in HD remasters. Earlier this year, Capcom released Resident Evil HD, a high-definition remake of the 2002 GameCube remake of 1996’s PlayStation Resident Evil — complicated huh?

Resident Evil HD has already sold over 1 million copies worldwide and has been named the “biggest-selling day one digital title” on the PlayStation Network.

Capcom has already confirmed it plans to release more HD remasters of its games in the future.

“HD remasters of our catalogue hit titles will be one of our key business activities … [digital sales] created new demand for these titles. For example, overseas download sales of “Resident Evil” (HD Remastered) in the past fiscal year were far higher than we expected”, explained Capcom in a recent Q&A.

“It is not a risk but rather the growth of the download sales channel gives users more options. We regard this as growth in opportunities to have allow access for more people to enjoy our games.”
