Report: Apple Watch to feature Samsung screens
Samsung may be supplying Apple with OLED displays for the Apple Watch and panels for the next iPhone.
According to South Korea’s ETNews, Samsung, one of Apple’s biggest rivals, has entered the fray as a supplier of the technology.
The report runs counter to previous rumours Apple will continue its partnership with LG Display as the sole provider of OLED panels.
Used in phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6, OLED pixels produce their own
light, eliminating the need for a backlight. The tech lets screens provide deeper blacks
and richer colours.
It is also rumoured that Samsung could be providing the panels for use in future iPhones.

The ETNews report, first spotted by Digitimes, states that Apple is expected to make a decision in November on whether to include the panels in the next iPhone.
Whatever the outcome, the decision is likely to affect Samsung’s production of curved OLED panels, something which the company is currently discussing.
There is no word yet on when the next Apple Watch will be released but 2016 seems most likely.
