Apple is not intending to unveil the rumoured MacBook Air with Retina Display at its launch event later this week, according to a report on Monday.
The well-informed Recode website, says although Apple may be planning to launch the 12-inch Air with improved display technology at some point, it will not be at this Thursday’s keynote.
Instead, the Cupertino-based giant will focus its attentions on unveiling new iPads, an iMac with a Retina Display and, out course, OS X Yosemite, which is likely to be released as a free download in the not-too-distant-future.
Previous speculation throughout much of 2014 had pointed to Apple releasing a new MacBook Air, with a fanless design, making it even thinner than its super-slim stablemates, and Intel’s Broadwell processors.
Rumours had suggested the notebooks would even comes in gold and grey colours, similar to Apple’s iOS devices.
There are three possibilities here. The first is that Apple has never planned to launch the new Air at this event. The second is the possibility of supply chain shortages holding up the intended launch. The final possibility is that Apple isn’t even building one.
Either way, Apple’s “It’s been too long” shindig on Thursday should be one to watch. We’ll have full coverage when the event kicks off at 6pm UK time.
