Report: Microsoft working on two new Surface tablets

We’re expecting a slew of new Microsoft devices as Windows 10 has now arrived, so leaks are coming thick and fast.

The latest on that front is a new report that claims Microsoft is working on two new tablets.

That’s according to Taiwan-based tech news site Digitimes, which suggests the devices will join Microsoft’s Surface line.

The first device is tipped to feature a 12-inch display, while the latter will reportedly offer 13- to 14-inches of screen real estate.

Both devices will feature high-end hardware, providing good profits to related component suppliers, the sources said, adding the order visibility for the Surface has already reached the end of the year,” the report reads.

We can’t verify Digitimes’ information independently, so take this apparent revelation with a pinch of salt.

This news follows a separate report by The Verge earlier this month that claimed Microsoft was planning to launch the long-awaited Surface Pro 4 this year.

However, that article made no mention of a second tablet. We wonder whether this latest news is referencing a Surface 4 as well as a Surface Pro 4.

That may be unlikely however, as the Microsoft Surface 3 is still relatively new – it only launched on May 5, 2015.

Microsoft is tipped to be plotting a big product event at some point in the near future.

As well as the Surface Pro 4, we’re expecting to see two new Lumia handsets, a Microsoft Band 2, and possibly a smaller version of the Xbox One.

We’ve been expecting a horde of new devices from Microsoft for a while now.

That’s because Microsoft has just launched Windows 10, and Windows 10 Mobile is set to land at some point in autumn.

Microsoft has not officially confirmed any specific product launch events.
