Google is planning to reveal its long awaited new Nexus phones – the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P – at an event in San Francisco later this month, according to reports on Wednesday.

CNET sources say the handsets, likely to be manufactured by LG and Huawei, will officially arrive on September 29.

The LG Nexus phone is likely to be a replacement for the existing Nexus 5 handset, packing a 5.2-inch (1080p) display, a 6-core Snapdragon 808 processor and a 12-megapixel camera.

Recent reports have also suggested it’ll pack 3GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner and Type-C USB connectivity.

In terms of Huawei’s first Nexus device, that’s likely to pack a much larger 5.7-inch screen and more of a flagship spec sheet, including a larger camera sensor.

The event is likely to see the official debut of the completed Android Marshmallow operating system, which has been in preview since May.

New Nexus handsets always arrive with the new update out of the box, but it’ll also trigger the roll out for older devices and others on the fast-track to Marshmallow.
