Report: China Mobile expecting 4-inch ‘iPhone 7c’ in April 2016

Apple is preparing to release a new handset under the moniker iPhone 7c in April 2016, according to reports emanating from China.

The Chinese website MyDrivers (via 9to5Mac) has become privy to the China Mobile product roadmap for 2016, which explicitly references a new Apple product.

The network is expecting to launch an iPhone 7c, which is almost certain to be 4-inch Apple handset heavily rumoured once again in recent months.

Up until now, most rumours have referred to the mystery device as the iPhone 6C.

It seems somewhat unlikely Apple would debut the ‘7’ iteration of its handsets with the derivative ‘c’ variant. The iPhone 7 series of handsets isn’t likely to launch until September 2016.

If Apple really does plan on releasing such a device in April 2016, we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of an iPhone 6C name just yet.

If the device really is on the way (which many folks are still doubtful of given the reception granted to the iPhone 5C), then our money would not be on a handset called iPhone 7C.

Apple has backed away from 4-inch phones in recent times, with the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch devices replacing the 4-inch iPhone 5S.
