Real Racing 3 gets major update

The new Real Racing 3 update may present itself under a Prestige Cars banner, but actually brings major upgrades to the popular racing SIM.

Available on Android and iOS devices, Real Racing 3 has been heavily praised despite initial progression mechanic and freemium issues, and has now been given a major update.

The free Version 1.2.0 update from developer Firemonkeys is listed as the Prestige Cars Update, bringing with it new high-end vehicles from Bentley and Mercedes-Benz.

“The Prestige Cars Update is here! Bentley and Mercedes-Benz join Real Racing 3’s extensive stable of manufacturers, while the highly requested Time Trial mode arrives with global leaderboards and ghost racing!” reads the update summary on the App Store.

However, within this seemingly vehicle-related update, comes a whole host of new features including a user interface redesign.

“We have reconfigured the career structure to give people clearer progression through the game,” explains Real Racing 3 Producer Kynan Woodman.

It is now easier to judge where lap time improvements can be made on races throughout a player’s career. Time Trials have been included as well in this latest update.

“We have now introduced Time Trials, one of the most wanted features from our community. You can now compete with your friends on global leaderboards racing cars from top manufacturers such as Bentley and Mercedes-Benz.”

Servicing has also been tweaked to reward players for a clean drive in a race and those individual bars for tyre or suspension repair for example have been replaced with a combination repair bar that will repair the entire car.

We expect that although this may mean less frequent repairs in the short term, players could be waiting several hours when the full repair is eventually required.

Firemonkeys has also introduced a repeat play bonus too, giving players rewards for any consecutive play days.

The free update is available now on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon App Store for Android.
