A flame-shooting 'Cyclops visor' is real – and just as stupid as it sounds

by

Cyclops

Last year, engineer and YouTuber Sufficiently Advanced debuted his working version of Thor's hammer 'Mjolnir' in a fun video that managed to rack up more than 15,000,000 views.

Now the inventor, whose real name is Alan Pan, has introduced his latest invention: a helmet that lets you shoot flames from your face.

Yes, it seems Pan has taken things to a new level with his latest design, which is based upon Cyclops from X-men and is capable of shooting streams of flames up to around 10 feet.

The definitely safe visor is essentially a welding helmet with two nozzles, a fuel tank, and a pump attached, which means if the tank explodes it's in a prime position to, y'know, kill whoever's wearing the thing.

And, as Sploid explains, the risk of flaming propellant landing on the wearer also makes this a disaster waiting to happen – just in case you needed any more reason not to wear flamethrowers on your face.

While Pan's ingenuity remains impressive then, we'd prefer he stick to Thor's hammer, or this cool helmet that lets you control another person using a remote control.
