Razer launches Stargazer, the ‘world’s most advanced webcam’

Gaming company Razer has thus far used CES 2016 to launch its dangerous-sounding Razer Blade Stealth gaming laptop.

Today, the company has unleashed another top-end device in the form of the more melifluously-titled Stargazer webcam.

Capable of video capture at 60fps and 720p, Razer says the Stargazer is the ‘world’s most advanced webcam’.

The device can also capture 1080p video at 30fps and includes an automatic noise-cancelling, dual-array microphone.

You’ll need Windows 10 to use the Stargazer, which is powered by Intel’s RealSense SR300 camera.

Razer says the RealSense tech can distinguish foreground from background clearly, and with the Dynamic Background Removal, eliminates the need for a green screen.

What’s more, the camera can scan faces and objects, turning them into digital 3D versions, so developers take note.

Naturally, it is being aimed at the streaming and gaming crowd, but the
company is keen to promote the Stargazer as a useful tool for YouTube
personalities, designers, and developers.

Other features include the ability to track up to 78 points on the face and 22 points on each hand.

Look out for the Stargazer in Q2 this year, when it will launch with a price tag of $200/€239.99.
