Rare teases “huge” plans for 2015, possible new Banjo-Kazooie

Rare has teased a brand new title to launch in 2015, which could potentially be a brand new Banjo-Kazooie game.

Microsoft owned UK studio, Rare, has teased us with a new game launch for 2015 on Twitter.

According to veteran Rare composer, Robin Beanland, who has over 20 years at Rare under his belt, 2015 is going to be “huge” for the developer.
“This is a HUGE year for Rare… and these notes”, tweeted Robin Beanland, Head of Music at Rare.

The picture of musical notes that you can see above accompanied the tweet, which may well be a hint to a new Banjo-Kazooie game. Musical notes are used as collectibles in the Banjo-Kazooie titles.

However, there could be particular relevant to the notes themselves. We can’t place them ourselves, but it’s pretty tricky to do when there are only two notes on offer.

There are other sources that support the launch of a new Banjo-Kazooie title in 2015.

Back in November, Xbox boss Phil Spencer tweeted about his joy at getting “to play the new Rare game”, describing the title as “uniquely Rare”.

Rare has a strong history of game launches, including the beloved Goldeneye 007 and of course the Banjo-Kazooie series. Most recently Rare has been behind the Kinect Sports series for Xbox, including the latest Kinect Sports Rivals for Xbox One.

Spencer has said that he “didn’t want the Rare brand to mean Kinect Sports – the Rare brand can be more valuable to them, to us and to gamers than that.”

The Xbox boss’ comments suggest that Rare’s next project won’t be another entry in the Kinect Sports series.

We have no further details on what the studio’s new title will be, apart from a separate tweeted picture from Rare’s Beanland last June of a broken banjo one day and a vine of the same banjo being fixed and played the next day.
