Put Plex in your pocket with this Wi-Fi hard drive
Western Digital has launched an updated version of its My Passport Wireless Pro hard drive, and it comes with one particularly tempting feature.
The device is designed for professional photographers and videographers, with it’s built-in Wi-Fi connectivity allowing for easy editing and streaming of media on the go.
But it’s the device’s Plex integration which has us most excited as it basically turns the hard drive into a portable Plex media server.
By setting up a Wi-Fi network, the My Passport Wireless Pro can sync with mobile devices and stream media to any device on the network that has Plex installed.
That means you can use the battery-powered hard drive to stream media to any smart TV, smartphone, or tablet through Plex.
The battery will last for up to 10 hours and there’s also Adobe Creative Cloud integration for those who want to quickly upload photos from their camera to the drive and into the Creative Cloud.
Elsewhere the hard drive comes with an SD card slot, a USB 2.0 port, and doubles as a portable phone charger.
If you’re tempted by WD’s latest offering, you can pick up the My Passport Wireless Pro 2TB version for £179.99 or the 3TB version for £199.99 through Amazon.
