Pure’s Highway digital radio adapters put Spotify in your car

Audio specialist Pure has announced a new range of in-car digital audio adapters that provide access to digital radio and Spotify.

The Highway 400 and 600 also feature Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream other music services and use digital personal assistants such as Siri.

With the built-in Spotify compatibility, you can use the adapter to scroll through tracks and playlists without touching your phone.

In addition, the Highway 400 and 600 come with a neat feature that allows you to “tag” certain tracks you hear on the radio by holding down a button on the adapter.

The track will then be added to a special Spotify playlist on your handset. It’s like Shazam in a digital radio adapter.

Lawrence Kennedy, senior product owner at Spotify said: “We are excited to be working with Pure and their new in-car range. We know our subscribers want to easily access Spotify content in their cars and Pure’s Highway adapters offer an easy way to do so.

“The integration of Pure’s ‘Go’ tagging feature is also a fantastic way for our customers to get the most out of their radio listening and ensure the music they discover is available to listen to again on Spotify from any device, anywhere.”

Both the 400 and 600 offer digital radio, Spotify integration, and Bluetooth connectivity. With the 600 you’ll also get hands-free calling over Bluetooth using the added microphone that attaches to the driver-side sun visor.

Pure says the new devices are easy to fit, with an antenna that attaches to the windscreen and runs to the main adapter, which can be placed anywhere on the dashboard.

The adapter then connects to your existing radio through the auxillary port or, for those without an aux port, by broadcasting a signal on a particular frequency that you can then tune your radio to.

Connecting to the adapter via radio frequency will not reduce the audio quality according to Pure.

The Highway 400 and 600 will go on sale for £129.99 and £149.99 respectively, and will be available exclusively from Halfords from April 2016.
