Sonic the Hedgehog-themed trainers teased by Puma

Puma has teased a new pair of Sonic the Hedgehog-themed trainers, which are set to go on sale this summer.

The shoes, which have been − ahem, rather snappily − named the Puma x Sega RS-0 Sonic, are yet to be fully unveiled, but they don’t appear to bear much resemblance to the speedy video game character’s iconic red footwear.

They’re blue, for starters, and appear to feature laces rather than a buckle. They don’t look very pointy either.

The German sportswear giant has only released blurred-out images of the trainers so far, but its promotional trailer promises plenty.

“For over 25 years Sonic has strived to be forever faster,” it proclaims. “In 2018, he’s hitting top speed. And so is his style.”

The RS in ‘RS-0’ stands for Running System, a line of running shoes Puma is bringing back from the 80s.

The company’s scheduled a June release for the Sonic shoes, but there’s no word yet on when we’ll actually be able to see what they look like.

Do you think the new trainers will make Sonic even faster than he already is? Share your thoughts @TrustedReviews.
