PS4 system update 1.50 causing stability issues, EA claims

A PS4 system update has been rolled out, with gaming publisher EA issuing a statement suggesting that PS4 patch 1.50 has caused stability issues with the next-gen console.

Speaking in line with the console’s US release, EA claimed that the day one PS4 update has caused stability issues when the PS3 follow-on is used to play any new game, including those made by EA itself.

According to the publisher, the PS4 1.50 update “results in stability issues while playing games on the system.”

An official EA spokesperson stated: “Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system.”

They added: “This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player’s console and their TV Screen.”

Suggesting that the issues can only be fixed by a new PS4 system update, EA stated that “Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can.” Adding: “[Sony] will update their System Update page as new versions are made available.”

Despite having made the bold claims that the PS4 is now suffering from stability issues, EA, a maker of games for both the PS4 and upcoming Xbox One, quickly issued a retraction, claiming the message was “posted in error.”

With the PS4 having launched in the US last Friday, November 15, a UK PS4 release date is now just a matter of days away, with a November 29 arrival set to see the console hit retailers seven days after the upcoming Xbox One release.
