PS4 Neo confirmed by Sony, but it won’t be at E3 this year

Sony has confirmed that PS4 Neo is in development, an upgraded version of the existing PS4 console.

In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Andrew House told the outlet that the PS4 Neo will be “more expensive than the current $350 version”.

“The new console is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” House said. “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”

However, the new console will not be revealed at E3 2016, like many people had expected. Sony is not ready to announce a potential release date or price for the console either.

“All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.”

According to House, the new console will target hardcore gamers with a keen interest in 4K content, as they will require a 4K television to get the most out of the system.
