The PS4 launch has greatly boosted PS Vita sales, with figures rising week-on-week.
Sony has seen the PS4 have a huge impact on the sales of its latest handheld gaming console, especially after the launch of a new advertising campaign.
The new campaign launched this week, which actively outlines the Remote Play functionality between the PS Vita and the PS4.
Using Remote Play, gamers can stream PS4 gameplay to the PS Vita over Wi-Fi, freeing up the TV for other users.
Sony announced that all PS4 games would be required to include Remote Play functionality, greatly increasing the value of the PS Vita.
After the PS4 launch, PS Vita sales leapt 68 per cent in the first week and 65 per cent the following week.
Sony hasn’t released any specific sales numbers for the PS Vita, but it seems the surge in sales can be attributed to the PS4.
“PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in,” said Sony’s Senior Product Manager, Ben Law.
The new PS Vita ad campaign also highlights the critically acclaimed Tearaway game, which was launched with a budget price of £19.99.
“The new TV advert went live this week and we’ve already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what a great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4”
TrustedReviews, among other review sites, all commended Tearaway developer Media Molecule for fully utilising all the PS Vita features, including the handheld’s cameras, rear touchpad and 5-inch display.
