PS4 and Xbox One pre-orders to be honoured by Blockbuster after all

Defunct retailer Blockbuster has confirmed that it will honour all Xbox One PS4 pre-orders it has received, despite entering administration for a second time.

Having entered administration late last month, Blockbuster originally stated that it would not be able to fulfil any PS4 or Xbox One pre-orders it had originally taken, with the retailer now backtracking and confirming expectant gamers will still receive their next-gen consoles.

We are pleased to announce that both Microsoft and Sony have set aside Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Day 1 consoles for Blockbuster customers who have valid pre-orders,” an official statement from the company has today stated.

“To ensure Microsoft and Sony supply you with your console please complete the form at the following link by midnight on Thursday 7th November – http://survey.blockbuster.co.uk/s3/nextgen.”

Detailing the full extent of the process required of those who order their next-gen gamers through Blockbuster, the company added: “Only Blockbuster customers with VALID pre-orders should complete this form. You will only receive the console you pre-ordered, including those who have ordered one of the exclusive ‘Day One’ edition Xbox One consoles. You will also have the opportunity to request a PlayStation 4: Killzone Shadowfall bundle.

“On submission of the form, Blockbuster will verify your pre-order and will pass your details on to Microsoft or Sony, who will contact you directly to arrange payment and fulfil of your order.”

Last week Blockbuster had told those with PS4 and Xbox One pre-orders that their money was gone and no PS3 or Xbox 360 follow-on was coming their way.

“We are sorry that you will be disappointed and that we can’t fulfil any Xbox One or PS4 pre-orders at this time,” the company Tweeted following the announcement it had re-entered administration.

With both next-gen consoles set to launch this month, the November 22 Xbox One release date will be followed up the PS4 release date just seven days later.
