Project Scorpio will run first-party games at native 4K

Microsoft has confirmed that its first-party library of titles will run at native 4K on Project Scorpio.

Speaking to USA Today (via Videogamer), publishing manager Shannon Loftis said that all first-party games released during the “Scorpio time frame” will run at native 4K.

Knowing this, we can expect new entries in franchises such as Halo, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport to run at native 4K, which sounds pretty exciting.

"Any games we're making that we're launching in the Scorpio time frame, we're making sure they can natively render at 4K," Loftis explained.

Microsoft is yet to announce whether it plans to update existing Xbox One titles to run at native 4K, or at least upscale them much like the PS4 Pro.

Project Scorpio is the next console in the Xbox Family, possessing 6 TFLOPS of processing power alongside a range of other impressive specs.

It is currently scheduled to launch in Winter 2017, with a full reveal to come later next year. All games coming to the Scorpio will also run on the standard Xbox One, meaning no one is left behind.
